Why ‘Unplug’ Your Wedding?

Leaving the house without a phone or a gadget can be frustrating, especially on grand, Instagram-worthy occasions like a wedding. With the rise of mobile technology, a person’s every move can be posted on social media for everyone to see. However, more and more couples are resorting to holding unplugged weddings.
What is an unplugged wedding, anyway?
An unplugged wedding is a setup where guests are requested to put their phones and gadgets down while the ceremony takes place. Usually, unplugged weddings are announced beforehand, so guests won’t have to carry their gadgets.
Why do couples go for unplugged weddings?
Many couples choose to have their weddings unplugged because they want their union to be intimate. Having phones and cameras up while brides and grooms walk down the aisle can be an eyesore They want their guests to focus on the vows and the celebration of the couple’s love, and not with the aesthetics of the event.

What does this mean for photographers?
There is a reason couples hire wedding photographers. They are paid to take beautiful photos of the event. “Photobombing” guests can ruin a supposedly perfect picture of the couple. And it can be hard for photographers to take good pictures because all that’s seen in photos are guests with their hands up and on their phones.
Should you unplug your wedding? If you’re not into hashtags, or if you’re not keen on revealing every life event on social media, why not?
